It’s pretty difficult to band a large number of people together. You could dot every “i” and cross every “t”, have the greatest cause, idea or reason and still have unfavorable results. But hey, no matter what important sports game, you can always guarantee to see a rampant, boisterous crowd show their faces for what [...]
Summer has barely left its fingerprint these days, but to keep warm, I’m remembering past Summer days – flying over to Montauk in the height of the season to enjoy my first and quite a delectable meal from the Crabby Cowboy. It was around this time last November that we were unsuccessful in dining at [...]
Gillette’s Castle sits atop a high hill overlooking the Connecticut River on the outskirts of East Haddam, Connecticut. This impressive, protruding oddity of architecture, which in a way looks like a primitive rock climbing wall, was home to Sherlock Holmes, or the man who acted as such on stage, William Gillette. Dying as a bachelor, the [...]
Happy Halloween, photobloggers! For this year’s holiday, I was given the opportunity of attending a professional paranormal investigation at a public library in Deep River, Connecticut. Six plus hours in the dark in not something I think I’ll ever feel comfortable with, but now that the video’s done, I can reclaim my dreams. Enjoy the [...]
Reveling in their last days of a high school career, Valley Regional students set sail for their Senior Reception aboard the Mystique, a Lady Katharine Cruise ship. The casually-attired event featured an evening of fine dining, dancing and charming scenery along the Connecticut River.
The Essex Boat Show was the first of its kind situated in the historic hamlet. Aboard the At & Is, a sailboat named after his grandchildren, Atley and Elizabeth, Jim Eastland overlooks the docks as though he were out at sea. Some more images of discerning bystanders:
Hay House is an active, year-round farm located in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. It is an eclectic landscape and gathering grounds with it’s leafy arbors, straw bale barns, drying tobacco leaves, kennel of dogs, makeshift enclosures and the first Buddhist Stupa in the state. The farm is maintained by David Brown and his farm manager, Ryan [...]
High School Musical are at their all time high. This girl is playing the witch for the production of “Into the Woods.” She is calling out to the giant who keeps taking lives until Jack is delivered. In the smaller image, John Lampe directs his double cast in “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”
Bruce Dupre and Doris Svec are both recipients of Meals on Wheels, a program designed to provide nutrition to the home bound in Southeastern Connecticut. The program provides over 57,000 home-cooked meals for seniors along the Shoreline. One rainy day, about two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to interview a couple elders, volunteers and [...]
The small little town of Chester holds an annual Winter Carnivale, not so much the kind with Ferris Wheels and the like, but rather an event when the community comes together to show off their strange, bizarre and often unusual talents. This juggler performs but only one of his acts for a concentrated crowd. The [...]
Summer’s on the mind lately… Chris and I just bought our first grill the other day. We can cook 60 burgers at once. It’s part propance, part charcoal. No joke. We’ve been absolutely helpless without one; no idea what to cook night after night. Who uses a stove to make a steak? Pfft. I’ve made [...]
This is an older photo of my friend Danny from my solo road trip to Maryland last March. It was a snowy afternoon in which I caught him hiding behind some gargantuan bamboo bushels as we promenaded his new stomping grounds. I’ve been ridiculously busy this holiday season. The holidays were warm and welcoming and [...]
