At the Edge of Things: Twenty-Four Photographers

Arranged and installed by Stephen Kobasa, At the Edge of Things: Twenty-Four Photographers will take place at the A-Space Gallery, West Cove Studio, 30 Elm Street, in West Haven. The gallery is open from Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A greeting of the artists will take place on Sunday, August 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Visual Storytelling Community Non-Daily Award

Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists awarded Jess Smith first place in the Visual Storytelling Community Non-Daily category for the April 2010 video Relive the Renaissance made for the Guilford Courier in her post as Chief of Photography and Multimedia at Shore Publishing.

I Love, I Love My Calendar Boys

Branford Patch published a great article that draws perspectives from all parties involved including the Chamber, the models, the committee and myself about the making of the Men of the Branford Chamber Calendar. This came after the “Calendar Models: Where They Are Now” meet up the week before at Nellie Green’s Restaurant. A big thank you to Editor Nicole Ball!!!

Adoption Awareness Art Show
November 21, 2010 – December 12, 2010

The Adoption Awareness Art Show, hosted by Boys and Girls Village, Inc, will hold a gallery reception on November 21, 2010 at the Master of None, LLC Gallery at 978 State Street, New Haven, Connecticut from 3:00-7:00pM. Featured works will include that of foster care children, local and established talent,including world renowned sculptor and illustrator, Adam Niklewicz. All proceeds collected will be donated to the Young Artists Respite Program, which provides resources for children to pursue their interest in the arts.


Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner
November 18, 2010

On November 18, 2010, Jess Smith was awarded a Special Recognition Award from the Branford Chamber of Commerce for her photography and design in the first ever Men of the Branford Chamber 2010-2011 calendar. This bold, whimsical fund-raising initiative brought together 14 brave businessmen in the community who knew how to have a little fun in their advertising!
