While photographing a golf match for the newspaper, I began chatting with an older man with a slight hearing deficiency. Besides the fact that conversations as such are entertaining and aggravating considering that you need to repeat yourself a few times, he spotted a hawk that just had perched on a branch across the way. It was a rough-legged hawk that had landed on a relatively close limb, no higher than ten to twelve feet from us. It seemed to be resting and cleaning itself, in no way troubled by my gawking.
And for those like me who are enamored by birds, but don’t know what the hell they are, give the WhatBird site a try – It will blow your mind!
