The Colosseum

There’s not too much that can be said about this structure that hasn’t already been said and I don’t want to sound like a broken record here. But in all seriousness, it is astounding to witness the ingenuity and engineering of the Coliseum in person. This place is SO massive, so entrancing – it’s downright mesmerizing. I mean, c’mon people, it survived the Dark Ages. Granted, the interior is somewhat in shambles, but it’s still standing goddammit. That’s resilience.

You don’t really see substantial construction very often. It’s all birdy now – cheep, cheap! Then again, I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to count on my hand how many worker bees were coerced into the construction of the subject.

  1. Impressive indeed! Your first shoot is outstanding, the yellow light towards the blue-blue sky is both a great contrast to each other and to the stone architecture.
    Great job!

It looks unreal, the way these photos stand out above the normal is a testament to the subject of the photos.

  3. I LOVE the photos and the commentary even more!!!!

  4. Jess,

Really like “The Colosseum at DuskII” That saturation in the evening sky and the glow from the arches along with the detail of the stone is really nice. Great shot!

  5. Un très beau site, les photos y sont belles et très bien présentées.
Je reviendrai en prenant plus de temps…
